When I was 11 years old, a scrawny girl caught between reading the Twilight series (team Jacob) and deciding which color I should swap my braces to at my next orthodontist appointment (a heinous shade of blue, always), I had something of a reckoning. The year was 2008, and The Real Housewives of New York had just debuted. From the moment I saw the five original cast members standing on my screen holding their apples, I knew. Like Gatsby to his green light, my pre-teen brain saw a new calling beckoning to me: I was meant to be someone who summered on the East Coast.

Montauk, Cape Cod, Nantucket—it didn’t really matter, so long as I was dressed in airy linens, drinking chilled Pinot Grigio out of a glass so thin it could crack just by looking at it the wrong way. The only thing that would ever interrupt my peace would be Ramona Singer’s voice (always a healthy 20 yards away), slowly chanting “turtleeeee timeeeeee.” Of course, now I’m 28, and while I’ve yet to get to the point in my life where “summer” is a verb rather than a season, this year’s trending fisherman aesthetic is giving me ample opportunity to manifest the future that’s been calling to me since middle school.

Full of linens and stripes (and even a surprise lobster or two), Abercrombie’s new arrivals are an East Coast-chic dream—and right now, they’re all on sale. From now through March 31, you can take 25% off Abercrombie’s entire site, plus an extra 15% off with the code SPRINGAF.

These are the on-sale pieces I’m adding to my cart to wear on repeat this summer.

It’s April, and while mercury may be in retrograde, the final winter chill has given way to warm, sunny days, making it hard to care. There’s a spring in my step when April arrives—the days get longer, birds are chirping, and it’s almost impossible not to feel good. Sure, there may be a few April showers, but who minds a little rain when flowers are just around the corner?

I’ve been living as if it’s spring since March 1, weather be damned. But if you’ve been waiting for the official start, the spring equinox arrived at the end of March, so it’s finally time to embrace the new season. The month of bright colors, fresh blooms, and renewed energy is here. And to make our goodbye to winter even sweeter, we have a collection of stunning tech backgrounds to complete your spring transformation. There’s something for everyone, from outdoor picnics to spring getaways and adorable baby animals. Whether you’re into floral patterns or simple textures, our aesthetic floral wallpapers for mobile & desktop add a touch of nature to your screens.

Enjoy your April tech background shopping! Be sure to share your favorite by tagging us on Instagram @theeverygirl.

Free Wallpaper Backgrounds

For years, The Everygirl has been releasing monthly tech backgrounds to give your home screen a put-together, refreshed vibe. We include options for all devices, so you have choices for your phone screen, desktop or laptop, and your iPad or tablet. If you love having a calendar right on your screen to easily glance at throughout the month, we’ve got you covered—several of our backgrounds feature calendars, with options for a Sunday or Monday start. We also provide second-screen options for each tech background, so if you’re working on two screens (like a laptop and a monitor at the same time), you can have two of the same design. You can find a variety of spring-inspired desktop backgrounds for work and study that bring a calming aesthetic to your workspace.

When do The Everygirl Tech Backgrounds come out?

The Everygirl Tech Backgrounds are usually available three days before the first of each month to give you plenty of time to change your screens, but this month we released them even earlier!

How to Download Tech Backgrounds

To download from one of our monthly tech background selections, scroll through the article to find one that you love. Then, click the link to the size you wish to download to access the image and download it to your desktop.

Pro Tip: You Don’t Have to Choose Just One!

If you’re adding your tech backgrounds to a Mac, you can have your tech backgrounds rotate as often as you want. Start by downloading all of the tech backgrounds you want and adding them to one folder. Then, navigate to the wallpaper tab in your Mac settings and scroll down to the button that says “add folder.” Once it’s added, click the “rotate” button and frequency with which you want to shuffle the images.

Backgrounds Without Words

We received lots of requests for backgrounds without text or calendars on them. We’re so happy that you love the pictures chosen and are excited to let you know that “Second Screen” is a wordless option available for desktops.

Nothing says Nancy Meyers quite like cutting fresh flowers from your beautiful garden and artfully arranging them in your sink for a gorgeous bouquet. My flowers may come from Trader Joe’s, but with this tech background, the experience feels much more luxurious. Even when they get chopped from my weekly grocery budget, I’m never without a fresh bouquet.

One of the harshest realities of adulthood is realizing there’s no longer a week-long spring break to travel. No matter how much I wish I could, I won’t be embarking on a Euro trip, but at least this shot of Rome’s charming buildings can make me feel like I’m there. It’s a virtual escape that almost makes up for my lack of a boarding pass.

I hate to pick favorites, but this daisy wallpaper is definitely at the top of my list. It embodies all the whimsy of spring and makes me wish I could spend my days outside, braiding daisy flower crowns and escaping into books in the sunshine. While that may not be a realistic to-do list for the next month, at least I can pretend with this background.

After a winter full of neutral grays and blacks, I’m beyond ready to welcome color back into every part of my life. I’ll be rocking bright pinks, blues, yellows, and pretty much any other fun shade I can add to my capsule wardrobe. This collage captures April’s vibrant, bold energy—from spring outfits and farmers market trips to tons of flowers and, my personal favorite, the return of patio season. These free April 2025 phone wallpapers for iPhone & Android are perfect for giving your device a fresh, spring-inspired look this season.

This is a bold claim, but this tech background might just be the cutest we’ve ever had. Growing up, visiting spring petting zoos was the best spring activity. I’m not sure where they went in adulthood (and now that I think about it, they may have been ethically questionable in the first place), but now we can appreciate the unmatched adorableness of baby ducks digitally.

It’s been 25 years since Miss Congeniality came out, and it’s just as iconic now as it was then. And you know what? Miss Rhode Island was right—April 25 really is the perfect date. Let this tech background be your sign that it’s time for a rewatch and to appreciate the luxury of no longer having to cart around a giant trench coat wherever you go. One of my favorite parts of spring is how everyone flocks to the nearest park the second the sun comes out. It’s so wholesome, and April is when picnic season really takes off. While my impromptu park days may not be as aesthetic as this tech background, it’s definitely the goal. And when rainy days force you inside, this background will help you still get your spring fix.

You know that first warm, sunny day of the year when you throw open all the windows and everything feels fresh and new again for the first time in what seems like forever? I want to infuse that energy into every room of my home this time of year. This season always makes me feel reenergized and excited about home projects again, and this spring, the first thing on my to-do list is my bedroom. After several long months of bundling up under every blanket I own, I’m ready to shed the winter layers and give my bedding situation a little spring refresh. If that sounds like just the kind of reset you’re craving as well, keep reading for some easy spring bedding ideas to get you ready for the season ahead.

1. Replace winter bedding with lighter materials

Throughout the winter, making your bed as cozy and warm as possible is usually the priority. But as the weather warms up, materials like flannel and fleece can feel a little too heavy. To get ready for warmer temperatures, swap thick winter layers for lighter, more breathable fabrics like cotton or linen. If you love the crisp feeling of hotel sheets, opt for bedding in a percale weave, or go with sateen for that silky smooth feel. I personally love breaking out my linen sheets in the spring—they have that breezy, lived-in look that is just so cozy to me.

2. Swap out solid sheets for a fun pattern

I’m usually a solid-color sheets person, but I recently got myself some botanical-print bedding, and I love how springy my bedroom looks now. It’s a small upgrade that doesn’t have to be super expensive but can make a big impact in giving your bedroom a fresh look. Florals for spring are an obvious choice, but patterns like stripes and gingham can feel equally appropriate for the season.

3. Wash or replace pillows

In the spirit of spring cleaning, now is the perfect time to give your pillows a little TLC. Experts generally recommend replacing your bed pillows every one to two years, which, not gonna lie, is way more often than I would have expected. If your pillows are starting to feel lumpy, flat, or no longer supportive, it’s a good idea to invest in some new ones. If yours are still in good shape, consider throwing them in the washing machine on a gentle cycle (always check the care tag first) to help wash away dust, sweat, and other allergens.

4. Add a colorful throw

Spring signals the start of warmer weather, but there are still plenty of chilly nights left between now and summer. Keeping a throw blanket at the end of your bed is smart if you ever get cold during the night, and it’s the perfect opportunity to introduce a pop of color to your bedroom. Grab a throw in a bright hue to try out a bolder look without a huge commitment or stick with soft pastels that feel like spring.

5. Toss in some new accent pillows

Accent pillows are key to a well-made bed that looks like an actual adult sleeps there, and these can be fun to switch up from season to season. Play around with different shapes, like square Euro pillows with an extra-long lumbar pillow or a cylindrical bolster pillow. This is also a great place to add in a dash of color, pattern, or texture to break up the rest of your bedding.

Spend any amount of time watching rom-coms, and you’ll see just how many ways people heal from breakups. Some people throw themselves into work or school to prove their worth (like Elle in Legally Blonde), and some go on a journey of self-discovery to figure out what they want out of life (like Liz in Eat Pray Love). Either way, one thing is clear: You have to do something. But when you’re stuck feeling all the feels, you might not have a clear sight of the best thing for you. When that’s the case, and you need a place to start, may I suggest you look to the stars?

We talked to Anotella, a professional astrologer and numerologist at Psychic World, to learn the best way for each sign to heal from a breakup. So whether you’re in the midst of a breakup or you need some advice to tell a friend who is going through a breakup, we’ve got the answers. Ahead, how to heal from a breakup and move forward with confidence, according to your zodiac sign.

MEET THE EXPERT

Anotella, Professional Astrologer & Numerologist

Anotella has been providing psychic readings for over 10 years. With over 4,000 readings conducted across various topics such as relationship compatibility, numerology, dream interpretations, cheating and affairs, career readings, and more, Anotella helps people gain a deeper understanding of their life’s meaning and provide guidance on how to achieve true happiness.

Aries

aries

Go on mini adventures

You’re bold, you’re fearless, and you’re ready to move on. The perfect way to do it? Through mini adventures. Whether it’s hiking a new trail, signing up for a class, or even trying a new-to-you coffee shop, Anotella says that mini thrills, like taking an adult field trip, can help Aries reclaim their independence. Even though your direct and honest nature might have you reeling to give your ex a piece of your mind, channel your energy into something that will reignite your passion for life. But remember, you get bored easily, so don’t give up until you feel fully yourself again.

Taurus

taurus

Create a cozy space

You need comfort more than ever right now, Taurus. And this time, don’t look to your ex’s arms to find it. Instead, create your own personal sanctuary at home. Grab your favorite blankets, light a candle, do something grounding, like cooking a meal or tending to your plants, and put on your comfort show. Anotella says that this will help you rebuild emotional security. You’re practical, so you know that you won’t magically feel better overnight, but return to your cozy space until you find solace. Maintaining patience throughout tough processes has always been your strong suit.

Gemini

gemini

Audit your social circle

Gemini, you thrive on getting a fresh perspective, and the best way to get it is by auditing your social circle—both online and IRL. Anotella says that by “unfollowing what no longer serves you and upgrading your conversations with stimulating new people, podcasts, and experiences,” you’ll ignite your curiosity and find new things (and people) to be excited about. You’ll adapt quickly, like you always do, making moving on easier to do. Just be careful; your “player” reputation might just get you into new situationships before you’re ready to let someone else into your life long-term.

Cancer

cancer

Write to your future self

Add “journal and cry it out” to your to-do list, Cancer, because heartfelt reflection is exactly what you need to get through your breakup. “Writing a letter to your future self filled with your hopes, dreams, and affirmations will allow you to process your feelings,” says Anotella. Plus, it will help you visualize the healed, confident person you’re becoming. You usually go to great lengths to protect and love the people around you, but this time, tune inward. The present and future versions of you will benefit from your nurturing nature the most.

Leo

Leo

Embrace a new aesthetic

You love to shine, even when times are tough. “Channeling your heartbreak energy into a bold new aesthetic will help you reclaim your spotlight,” according to Anotella. Think: a dramatic wardrobe refresh or a new hairstyle to boost your confidence. Surround yourself with loyal friends, and hit the town to show it off. Just refrain from posting a selfie with #single on it—you don’t want to be perceived as self-centered the second you get back out into the dating world.

Virgo

virgo

Try emotional mapping

You’re practical and incredibly keen to detail, so you probably saw this breakup coming from a mile away, Virgo. Still, you’ll find peace in understanding exactly what happened and what lessons you can bring with you moving forward. Anotella explains that emotional mapping can help you do that. Grab your journal and jot down emotional turning points. When did things change? How did you feel? Journaling feelings as landmarks on a personal growth journey turns heartbreak into a structured process and ultimately brings you clarity.

Libra

libra

Detox your digital life

You’re naturally drawn to beauty and balance, Libra, but that can be hard to come by during an emotional breakup. Look to your social channels to curate the uplighting environment you need. Take a good look at the accounts you follow and decide if they are adding to your life or not. Are they inspiring? Do they excite you? If not, kick them to the curb and follow a few hobby or home decor accounts instead. You need all the peace and harmony you can get right now, Libra, and Anotella claims that a visually pleasing online environment can bring emotional balance to you.

Scorpio

scorpio

Get closure

It’s time to embrace your heartbreak as a chance to find closure and renewal, Scorpio. Burn old notes and photos, cleanse your space by doing a deep clean, and unfollow your ex (and their friends!) on socials. “This powerful act of renewal will help you shed the past and emerge stronger, wiser, and fiercely independent,” according to Anotella. Set your sights on new beginnings and don’t worry about what your ex is doing to move on—jealousy has never been a good look on you.

Sagittarius

sagittarius

Embrace spontaneous experiences

Free-spirited Sagittarians, I know you might be hurting, but think of all the freedom you have now! Turn your heartache into an adventurous journey by embracing spontaneous experiences. Think: an impromptu weekend trip with the girls or a solo date at a new restaurant across town. Trying new things and documenting your experience (whether it be through journaling or TikTok videos) will reinvigorate your passion for life. You’ve always been open-minded, so on your hardest days, remember not to take life too seriously. There is still fun to be had.

Capricorn

capricorn

Think about what you learned

You have a difficult time expressing your emotions, Capricorn, so when you’re hurting, getting practical is your best bet. By reframing your breakup as a lesson instead of a failed endeavor, you can reveal deeper truths about what you want for yourself and your relationships moving forward. What worked in your relationship? What could have gone better? How can you show up better next time? Journal about it or talk it through with a trusted friend. Just don’t throw yourself into work and ignore the learning process, OK?

Aquarius

Aquarius

Take on a new opportunity

Listen closely, Aquarius: The time has finally come for you to reinvent yourself. Anotella says to “channel your heartbreak into visionary change and opportunity” by making a bold career move, launching a creative project, or finally trying Pilates! Setting your sights on the future and prioritizing self-discovery will keep you from dwelling on the past, Anotella explains. You’ll find solace in your social circles and maybe even by staying friends with your ex.

Pisces

pisces

Get inspired

Hear me when I say that you’re going to be OK, Pisces. At the start of your healing process, it may be too overwhelming to think about doing anything but curling up with your favorite movie, but know that you’ll find comfort in reconnecting with your creative side. Anotella recommends “sitting outside and drawing your surroundings, listening carefully to lyrics in your playlists, or photographing something ordinary to process your emotions.” By diving into your subconscious and getting inspired, you’ll be able to uncover hidden insights about your relationship and what you want for your future.

Newly engaged to Selena Gomez at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, host Nikki Glaser said that a genie granted Benny Blanco a wish. Viewers who were unfamiliar with Benny or their relationship assumed Glaser was right—myself included. Whoever this man was, he is about as lucky as they get. But dare I say we might have been a little too quick to judge a book by its cover? The more I’ve learned about Benny since then, the more I’ve wondered how the hell Selena found a man as thoughtful, loving, and emotionally intelligent as Benny. Honestly, I thought men like him went extinct a long time ago, so from where I’m standing, Selena was granted quite the wish, too.

Since releasing their album, I Said I Love You First, last week, the couple has been in interview after interview. But it’s not the album people are most impressed with (although, it’s pretty great)—it’s Benny Blanco. Clips of him have been circulating all week from their interview on Jay Shetty’s podcast, On Purpose, and the internet has collectively decided he is a “walking green flag.” Between Selena saying she felt “immediate safety” with Benny to Benny pronouncing that men who don’t listen are “idiots,” we couldn’t agree more.

In the podcast episode, titled “How Benny Taught Me to Trust Again,” Benny explains that he made a list of qualities he wanted in a future partner (with his therapist!!) before he and Selena even got together. His self-awareness and true desire to be in a partnership that is “the perfect yin and yang,” as he describes, is a part of the interview not enough people are talking about. In a day and age where dating feels chaotic and ghosting is far too normalized, it’s nice to know that there are still people out there who want a genuine partnership. That’s the foundation, after all. To become a “unit,” as Selena describes, you have to want it—and Benny did.

Any partner could say, “I’m aware of her strengths and I’m aware of her weaknesses,” and that’s great! But Benny did more than just become aware of them. He learned quickly how to support Selena in both—and proactively, too. For example, he says “I know what she needs… she wants to talk to me before she goes to bed, she wants me to say ‘I love you’, she wants me to text her if I wind up having to stay somewhere two hours late.” Right there with you, Selena! He comments on how easy and quick checking in via text message is, but that “it really helps,” especially long-distance.

In everyone’s favorite part of the interview, Benny calls out men for not listening (finally!!). “A woman is going to tell you exactly what she needs,” he explains. What he is really saying is it’s not THAT hard to be a supportive partner, as long as you care enough to listen. And let’s make one thing clear: Listening, as a man, doesn’t earn you brownie points—it’s what you should be doing for the people you love anyway.

Even the most aware and loving people deal with conflict, and the couple isn’t afraid to admit they’re not any different. In talking about how they navigate it, Benny says “We’re the furthest thing from perfect in the world.” In the next breath, he says “We’re perfect for each other.” Benny explains that he always wants to “fix things” for Selena, but he understands that strong women ”have the world on their backs.” He goes on to say that sometimes, they “just want to complain about something, and that’s OK… you just listen.” Finally, a man who gets that being a woman is hard and annoying—and more than ever, that we don’t always need to be saved. When you pay close attention, you learn that people just want to know they can count on you. It’s clear that whether things are high or low, Selena can count on Benny.

All of this is to say that I can’t believe Benny’s toes were out during the entire interview, and I didn’t see a comment about them once online. With the internet being as truly ruthless as it is, it just goes to show that what someone says, who someone really is, and how they treat others, is far more important than what they look like, where they come from, and how their career stacks up to the person next to them. If you ask me, Benny has inspired women everywhere to search for a man who is genuinely kind and who never makes them question how respected and loved they are.

There’s no question about the power of protein. But what’s long been up for debate is how best to take it, with different camps making the case for food vs. supplements and whey vs. soy vs. collagen (you get the idea). If you side with the supplementation route to fill in the gaps (gone are the days it gives the “swol”-guys-mixing-their-protein-shakers-at-the-gym vibes), which protein powder comes out on top? For one, there’s the long-standing whey protein, which is considered a complete protein (it contains all nine essential amino acids) and whose highest-concentrated amino acids can’t be produced by the body on its own (read: they have to be consumed through diet). Then there’s the argument for collagen protein, the most abundant protein in our bodies, but it is harder for the body to make as we age (not to mention, taking collagen orally can improve skin moisture, elasticity, and hydration; just look at its key witness: Jennifer Aniston).

Well, a new study in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise presents evidence that combining the two—whey and collagen—is the answer to faster recovery and stronger muscles compared to supplementing with either one alone. I asked experts to explain what the research says and give us the best ways to put the protein hack to work.

Experts Consulted

At The Everygirl, we believe that wellness advice should be grounded in accurate, science-backed information to ensure our readers can make informed decisions about their health and well-being. That’s why we prioritize consulting trusted, credible experts—so every piece of content is both reliable and empowering.

DR. LAURA KUNCES, PhD, RD, CSSD

Dr. Laura Kunces is a highly respected registered dietitian and board-certified specialist with deep expertise in performance nutrition, clinical research, and personalized health solutions. As the Vice President of Medical Strategy at Thorne, she leads the development of science-backed nutritional and wellness strategies, bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and practical application.

JENNA STANGLAND, MS, RDN, CSSD, LDN, CLT

Jenna Stangland is a highly accomplished board-certified sports dietitian with extensive experience working with elite athletes. As the team dietitian for both the Minnesota Wild and the Minnesota Timberwolves, she specializes in optimizing performance through evidence-based nutrition strategies. Her expertise extends beyond professional sports, as she is also dedicated to educating and empowering athletes of all levels to fuel their bodies for success.

What Exactly Are Whey and Collagen?

According to Dr. Laura Kunces, PhD, RD, CSSD, a registered dietitian and board-certified specialist in sports dietetics and the VP of medical strategy at Thorne, whey and collagen are both types of proteins, but they differ in their sources, compositions, and benefits.

Whey

Whey is an animal-based protein derived from milk during the cheese-making process (whey and casein are the two components). Jenna Stangland, MS, RDN, CSSD, a registered dietitian and board-certified specialist in sports dietetics and team dietician for the Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA) and Wild (NHL), added that while whey is made up of amino acids that the body can produce on its own (AKA non-essential amino acids) as well as those that it can’t (AKA essential amino acids), it’s most abundant in the essential branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) that the body can’t make by itself.

“While protein as a whole is beneficial for muscle recovery and growth, each amino acid that makes up protein has its own specific role in the body to support that process and overall cellular health,” Stangland explained. Since the body isn’t able to create essential amino acids alone, we need to consume them through diet in order to properly build muscle. And because whey contains all nine essential amino acids (making it a “complete” protein source), it makes a reliable supplement choice.

Dr. Kunces pointed out that you’ll typically see whey protein on the market in three different forms:

 • Whey hydrolysate: pre-digested for faster absorption and can help you retain more protein but is more expensive
 • Whey concentrate: consists of up to 80 percent protein, and the remaining 20 percent contains carbohydrates and fats
 • Whey isolate: most-researched and more purified, with lower fat and lactose contents, therefore sometimes a higher protein content per serving

Collagen

Collagen protein powder is sourced from naturally-occurring collagen found in connective tissues (bones, skin, and cartilage) of bovine (cows), marine (fish), or poultry sources. “It’s rich in the specific amino acids—glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline—key amino acids that are usually touted for their support with skin, joints, and hair health, but more recently collagen types are seeing benefits to gut health, too,” Dr. Kunces said.

Stangland noted that though collagen is also made up of essential and non-essential amino acids, its full amino acid profile looks different than that of whey—collagen has higher amounts of glycine and proline. Glycine is the most abundant amino acid in collagen tissue, and proline forms peptide bonds in the collagen tissue to keep it strong. “In simplest terms, collagen in the body helps the body twist, turn, jump, and stretch, so consuming amino acids specifically from collagen peptides helps keep the connective tissue that surrounds the muscle fibers (and enhances muscle strength) strong, mobile, and flexible,” she said.

Why collagen is often overlooked for building muscle

You hear the word “collagen,” and my (educated) guess is that your mind goes straight to thinking it will make your skin and hair rival Jennifer Aniston’s (at least a girl can hope, and by girl, I mean me). Her morning coffee, however, is none other than a collagen protein latte. But collagen isn’t typically associated with building muscle. Why is that? Stangland shared that protein supplementation is usually just compared between plant proteins and whey proteins: “What gets missed is how valuable certain amino acids are for the muscle connective tissue that surrounds the muscle fiber. For building muscle, both the muscle fibers (which whey protein supports) and the connective tissue that surrounds it (which collagen peptides support) have to be fueled and supported.”

Stangland further explained that glycine, the amino acid predominantly in collagen peptides, will decrease the inflammation around the muscle fiber to allow it to repair and rebuild. “Glycine also helps to increase creatine synthesis in the muscle that can be used as an energy source during high-intensity workouts or resistance training,” she said. “Glycine feeds into and builds the muscle connective tissue to allow that tissue to take on more force and power in workouts, especially resistance training,” she said. TL;DR: Consider glycine an energy and recovery maven, serving up muscle gains.

Is Combining Whey and Collagen the Key to Muscle Recovery and Strength?

A 2025 study found that blending 25 grams of whey and 5 grams of collagen boosts muscle repair (read: better rebuilding of muscle fibers in both exercised and rested muscles), bolsters connective tissue (which whey alone cannot do), and delivers a mighty dose of the amino acids leucine (necessary for muscle growth and repair) and glycine (crucial for contributing to muscle connective tissue health).

“The two together are complementary, targeting both overall muscle and then the connective tissue, tendon, and joints around it, providing full support to the muscle area—muscle repair, muscle synthesis, and muscle recovery,” Dr. Kunces said. “At the same time, they both act on repairing and rebuilding after a breakdown or use of the muscle, tendon, and joint, ideal for someone recovering from intense exercise or injury.”

If we’re going to get down to the nitty-gritty, whey protein is highest in the amino acid leucine and low in the amino acid glycine, whereas collagen is very high in glycine and low in leucine. “When the muscle is inflamed from a high-intensity workout, the pathway to turn on muscle protein synthesis with leucine can be blocked by inflammatory cells, which can slow the activation of the muscle-rebuilding process,” Stangland shared. “However, glycine has been shown to block the release of these pro-inflammatory cells. By consuming glycine after a workout, this can decrease the inflammatory cell response and allow leucine to do its job of activating muscle protein synthesis.” Bottom line: Glycine, FTW again, except in this scenario, it’s stepping up to stop inflammation in its tracks so that those muscles can come through (talk about a flex in every sense of the word).

And while inflammation has entered the chat, it’s also worth mentioning how pairing whey and collagen can be a game-changer for a happy gut. “Collagen has some anti-inflammatory support properties that can offer relief from not only joint stiffness or soreness but also inflammation in the gut, which can impair nutrient absorption,” Dr. Kunces said. “And whey also contains glutathione-boosting compounds, which help the antioxidant system in the body combat the oxidative stress from exercise.”

What are the Best Ways to Use Whey and Collagen?

Both Dr. Kunces and Stangland agree that post-workout is where it’s at when taking the whey and collagen protein duo. “The best ways to consume [whey and protein] are around exercise, usually after a workout,” Dr. Kunces said. “You’ll want to aim for at least 20 grams of whey protein so that you are getting at least the minimum amount of branched-chain amino acids (specifically leucine) to activate muscle protein synthesis and initiate the rebuilding/repair process.” The other half of the formula to score the best results? Although the study only called for 5 grams of collagen, Stangland advised using at least 15 grams.

Here’s her exact recipe: “Mix whey protein isolate with collagen peptides, adding a scoop of glutamine and a source of carbohydrates to create a combination of recovery fuel after a 60-minute or more workout session.” To enhance collagen absorption into the tissue, Stangland also recommends adding a minimum of 50 milligrams of vitamin C (pro tip: check off both the carbohydrate and vitamin C components with a high-vitamin C fruit like strawberries or pineapple to support the collagen).

If you’re taking a rest day, the combo of whey and collagen can still come in clutch as a solid afternoon snack to keep blood sugars stable and support lean muscle mass, metabolism, and immune health. “Consistency is key—build a daily routine so the body is getting these nutrients every day because it may take a few weeks for the body to see the most benefits,” Dr. Kunces suggested.

Thanks to the release of Netflix’s With Love, Meghan, we’re in the middle of a little Meghan Sussex renaissance. Meghan has been my #1 beauty and style icon since she shot to worldwide fame after debuting her relationship with Prince Harry years ago. The effortless bun? I tried (and failed) to recreate it all the time. Her classic style? My closet has never seen more button-downs. I grasped at every little piece of information I could, down to her preferred shimmery brown eyeliner, in the hopes of capturing some of her essence. Since stepping back from the royal family in 2020, though, those nuggets of beauty and style inspiration have been few and far between. But with the release of her new show and the launch of her new brand, Meghan Markle is getting back in touch with the world, and that includes giving us a peek inside her wardrobe and beauty bag.

Meghan’s beauty Shop My page is filled with great recommendations. Some with my additional, non-royal seal of approval include the Saie Glowy Super Gel, the Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions mascara, and the La Roche-Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser. But among all of the beauty products Meghan listed, the real showstoppers were the two nail polish shades she wore throughout filming With Love, Meghan. On Instagram, Meghan revealed she layered two shades of CND Shellac polish, Romantique and Satin Slippers. Combined, the polishes create the perfect light pink to wear all year long. CND is commonly found in salons, so ask your artist at your next appointment if they have these two shades. And if you’re more of a DIY girlie, CND sells these shades in their long-wear regular polish formula.

I love a fun, colorful manicure as much as the next person, but you can’t deny that an easy, classic, go-to neutral combination is crucial to have on rotation. Next time I need a break from nail art, I’ll be looking to Meghan Markle’s nails as inspiration.

20 Spring Activities to Try as Soon as the Weather Warms Up https://theeverygirl.com/spring-activities/ Wed, 26 Mar 2025 15:02:15 +0000 https://theeverygirl.com/?p=354170 spring activities The moment temperatures hit 60 degrees or above, I want to spend every minute outdoors. I may still have to

The post 20 Spring Activities to Try as Soon as the Weather Warms Up appeared first on The Everygirl.

]]>

The moment temperatures hit 60 degrees or above, I want to spend every minute outdoors. I may still have to wear a light jacket on my walk, but at least I’m outside instead of inside a gym. After a long winter, there’s something so therapeutic about feeling the warmth of sunshine, breathing in the fresh air, and listening to the world around you. IMO, spring activities don’t even have to be physical or planned. Just spending more time outside lifts my mood and brings me joy.

If you’re looking for something to do once the weather warms up, we’ve got you covered. Whether you want to go on an adventure, get your body moving, or simply soak up the sun, these spring activities are the perfect way to embrace the season.

1. Paint or sketch outdoors

Spring is the perfect time to pick up a new hobby, so why not flex your artistic skills? If, like me, those skills are pretty much nonexistent, just remember: it’s about the journey, not the destination. Grab some pencils and paper, or a canvas and paint, and set up outside. You’ll get to soak up the sunshine while creating something original, no matter how good the outcome actually is.

2. Host a spring dinner party

IDK about you, but winter meant a lot of canceled plans for me. When you have to brave freezing temperatures just to meet up with friends, staying in and binge-watching Housewives always wins. But now that spring is here, it’s time to make up for lost time. Plan an elaborate spring dinner party complete with seasonal recipes and fun drinks. You can channel your inner Martha Stewart and whip up everything yourself or make things easier with a potluck. Either way, it’s the perfect excuse to gather and celebrate the new season.

3. Read a book in a park

Reading in a park always makes me feel like the main character in a rom-com. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the nice weather without having to plan an elaborate outing or coordinate with a group. All you need is a great book and a blanket or towel to stretch out on. Trust me, the hours will fly by before you even notice.

4. Find your go-to spring drink

If you don’t have a signature drink for every season, it’s time to remedy that. Spend an afternoon testing out spritz recipes, sampling different wines, or mixing up mocktails until you find the perfect drink to sip on all patio season-long. If you’re looking for more of a pick-me-up, work on perfecting your favorite latte or matcha recipe. Whatever your beverage of choice, consider it an essential part of your spring routine.

5. Host a spring movie marathon

Just because spring brings rainy days doesn’t mean you have to stop romanticizing the season. Curl up on the couch with friends and binge-watch some classic springtime movies. A few of my spring rewatch essentials are Confessions of a Shopaholic, Emma, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

6. Take a bike ride

Trust me, I’m no cyclist, but I have a newfound appreciation for bike rides. I recently rode a bike through a park for the first time since childhood, and let me tell you, it was magical. There’s something so freeing about speeding through nature (or just around your block) with the sun shining and the wind in your hair, making this the perfect spring activity after a long winter huddled indoors. If you don’t have a bike, don’t worry. Many cities have easy-to-operate bike rental services, and rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft can also connect you with bikes. It’s time to put all those SoulCycle classes to good use!

7. Soak up some vitamin D

Let me preface this by saying: If you aren’t already wearing sunscreen every day, now is the time to start. That being said, I love soaking up the sun whenever I get the chance, especially after a long dreary winter. I’m not suggesting you lay outside for hours baking, but a quick 15- to 20-minute burst of vitamin D can work wonders for shaking off any lingering winter blues.

8. Explore local festivals

One of my favorite spring activities is attending local events around my city. This spring, you’ll find flower festivals, berry festivals, farmer’s markets, and other live events popping up all over the U.S. Most have much more to offer as well, like live music, food, drinks, carnivals, and more, so check out the local goings-on in your area for a fun weekend activity.

9. Play some pickleball

Is it just me, or did we wake up one day to pickleball being the talk of the town? The sport is so popular now that courts are popping up everywhere. Pickleball combines ping pong and tennis and has very simple rules, giving you endless hours of fun. When you play pickleball, you’re pretty close to one another (the play area is smaller than a tennis court), so while this is a sport, it’s also a great way to spend quality time with friends and family—or even make new friends!

10. Take a drive with all the windows down

A quintessential spring activity—and also one of the easiest—is simply going for a drive with all the windows down and enjoying the breeze. Put on a playlist that encapsulates your spring vibe and go for a drive around town with no destination. It’s so simple, but it’s a total mood booster.

11. Take a hot girl walk (or run)

Hot girl walks are here to stay, whether you prefer strutting it by yourself or bringing friends along. Take this time to hit your step goal, listen to an audiobook, reflect on your day, or unplug. If you want to level up your HGW, try a hot girl jog. OK, I’m not actually sure if that’s a thing, but jogging is an easy way to add cardio to your day!

12. Have a picnic

As soon as the weather warms up, parks are inevitably filled to the brim with people partaking in all sorts of activities. One thing I never fail to see is a gaggle of giggling friends spread out on a picnic blanket, bonding over their shared charcuterie board and a bottle of wine. There’s a reason the picnic is a staple warm-weather activity: It’s a great way to get outside while enjoying tasty food and good company—what’s not to like? But if your social battery needs to recharge, you can still enjoy a good picnic. Just swap the company of your friends for a good book or podcast and enjoy some one-on-one time with yourself.

13. Join a recreational sports team

The last time you were part of a sports team might have been your elementary school soccer team, but it’s never too late to get back out there. Joining a sports team or exercise group is a great way to stay active and—while you’re at it—make some new friends. Whether your activity of choice is kickball, sand volleyball, or a run club, there’s something for everyone.

14. Do some outdoor yoga

I’ve never been one for hot yoga, but sunshine yoga? Sign me up. Set up your yoga mat on your porch, in your yard, or even in a local park. You can download an app to coach yourself through a yoga session, or check in with your local yoga studios to see if they host outdoor group classes.

15. Celebrate patio season

Sitting outside is the ultimate way to dine, and nobody can tell me otherwise. When restaurants, breweries, and wineries open their patios, I feel like everything just tastes better. Grab your besties and head to your favorite spot, or try somewhere totally new to ring in patio season.

16. Take up photography

Years ago, photography was an expensive hobby. Now, we all carry high-quality cameras and editing tools in our pockets, so it’s easier than ever to photograph the world around us. Start exploring new places, capture what inspires you, and then share your work on Instagram or a blog.

17. Go to a baseball game

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know much about sports. But if I’m invited to a baseball game, the answer is always yes. After all, baseball games are about more than the actual game. It’s a whole event with great food, traditions, and good vibes. If you don’t live near a major league team, look for minor league teams in your area—the games are just as fun!

18. Start your own garden

Gardening is a hobby that requires a bit of effort but provides you with something beautiful or delicious to enjoy. Even if you live in a city, gardening isn’t off the list of spring activities you can try. If you don’t have the yard space for a garden, start by growing your own herbs, small flowers, or potted vegetables on a balcony or windowsill.

19. Go for a hike

If you live in an area with trails or mountains nearby, hiking is a great way to enjoy the springtime weather. Take a day to spend time in nature and enjoy the beautiful view from the top of the mountain. If you’re feeling really outdoorsy, make it a full weekend getaway by turning it into a camping trip—just make sure you’re prepared with all the right gear before you head out!

20. Find a new spot in your city

If you want to get outside and soak up some vitamin D, explore your city or town and find a new space to relax. When I lived in Boston, I would walk along the Esplanade, find a place to set down a blanket, and enjoy reading a book or drinking my coffee in the sunshine. It’s fun, free, and a great way to embrace the warm weather.

The correlation between the weather outside and my willingness to spend money is a scientific phenomenon that really should be studied. Throughout the months of January and February, I’m hunkered down inside, just trying to stay warm and recover from my annual holiday spending hangover. But once March rolls around and the outside world finally starts to thaw out, suddenly both I and my wallet are ready to come out of hibernation. Something about the sun on my face and the new sprigs of grass popping up just makes me want to get out there and buy all the things I’ve been stockpiling on my wishlist. It doesn’t hurt that some of the best sales of the year actually happen during the spring, like the one Amazon has going on right now.

Called the Big Spring Sale, it’s basically the spring version of Prime Day, but instead of being here and gone in just 48 hours, this Amazon sale lasts a whole week. From now through March 31, you can get up to 40% off across categories including electronics, fashion, beauty, home, and more—plus the super-fast shipping you know and love. If the warmer weather has you itching to give your credit card some exercise (same), keep scrolling for the best deals to shop from Amazon’s Big Spring Sale.

I live in New York City, a fast-paced, often over-stimulating epicenter. While I love everything the city has to offer—the food, the culture, the different neighborhoods—I sometimes feel anxious with all the bustling energy around me. So some weekends, I find myself sitting at home, doom-scrolling, or watching reruns of Sex and The City instead of spending my free time doing something I love, which leaves me feeling tired, unmotivated, or sad. Throw in spring Seasonal Affective Disorder (yes, it’s not just the “winter blues“; some people begin to feel seasonal depression symptoms in the early spring), and I’m lucky if I step foot outside. Cue the concept of a “dopamine menu,” a list of dopamine-stimulating activities for different situations and needs to give you a mood boost whenever you need it. Combine it with a taste of 60-degree days that we’ve been having, and spring in NYC has been giving fresh start vibes.

How Dopamine Works

Dopamine, also known as the “feel-good” hormone, is associated with the feeling of pleasure and the incentive to seek out pleasure (it’s no coincidence it’s part of the brain’s reward system). When you engage in activities that bring you satisfaction, the brain releases the neurotransmitter dopamine, reinforcing the actions and motivating you to do them again. Healthy levels of dopamine can help boost happiness, motivation, energy, and focus, but if dopamine levels are low (because of lifestyle factors like chronic stress, medical conditions like ADHD, or other causes), you’ll likely feel tired, moody, or unmotivated. Enter the dopamine menu to deliver an extra dose of dopamine at your beck and call.

Little did I know a dopamine menu would become my go-to for avoiding those draining doom-scrolling weekends at home, not to mention providing a pick-me-up when I could really use some encouragement (looking at you, afternoon slump). Read on to learn what a dopamine menu entails and how to create your own.

What Is a Dopamine Menu?

A dopamine menu is a curated list of healthy habits and activities designed to naturally elevate your dopamine levels and make you feel pleasure, motivation, and reward. The idea behind a dopamine menu is to provide an actionable and sustainable approach to improve your mood and prioritize your mental well-being. And by creating your own personal dopamine menu, you can pinpoint what actually brings you joy and fulfillment and it can serve as a friendly nudge to choose those activities over alternatives that aren’t as rewarding. (Plus, with the many choices we already face every day, you can lessen decision fatigue with your dopamine menu.) While you can create and use one anytime of the year, consider spring an invitation to refresh your daily routine by incorporating your dopamine menu items.

The concept originated from a YouTube video made by Jessica McCabe, the creator of the YouTube channel “How To ADHD” and author of How To ADHD: An Insider’s Guide to Working With Your Brain (Not Against It), who shared the concept as a way to help people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) get the stimulation their brains need to get more dopamine.

Just like a restaurant menu, a “dopamine menu” (also referred to as a “dopamenu”) is divided into sections: appetizers, entrees, sides, desserts, and specials. The idea behind the menu is for each section to contain a list of dopamine-boosting activities for different situations and needs. As the trend has taken off, some people are creating separate dopamine menus for mornings, evenings, and weekends, or even for different days of the week. The point is to make it your own based on activities that bring you joy and to change it as you see fit.

Appetizers

The appetizers section of the dopamine menu contains quick and easily accessible ways to produce dopamine. Since they’re not time-consuming, they can be enjoyed throughout the day whenever you need a break. For example, looking at a picture you keep on your desk that brings you joy, a five-minute meditation, your favorite afternoon snack, making yourself a cup of coffee, or cuddling with your pet.

Entrees

The main courses include longer activities that you may need to plan and carve out a few hours to enjoy, but they’re meant to recharge you more than the appetizers. These could be a dinner date with a friend, going for a long walk, cooking your favorite meal, or doing an arts and crafts activity.

Sides

The sides section of the menu is reserved for activities that are ideal for accompanying other tasks that are less gratifying but necessary. Think: putting on a podcast while doing chores, lighting a candle while answering emails, or calling a friend while running errands.

Desserts

Desserts are things you love to do but are best enjoyed in moderation; otherwise, they could become unhealthy. They are not “bad” or wrong, but finding the appropriate balance to savor them is key. They’re the sweet treat you can look forward to on occasion, like online shopping, scrolling social media, snacking, or binge-watching a TV show.

Specials

Specials aren’t always available, and they might be more expensive or time-consuming, so you only partake in them every once in a while. They can include going on a trip, a spa day, or seeing a comedy show.

Why Is It Effective for Dopamine Levels?

In McCabe’s YouTube video, she talked about how most of us don’t spend hours scrolling social media or binge-watching a TV show because we think it’s a great use of our time; we do it because it provides a quick fix for the stimulation we need to function. But while those mindless activities may give you a surge in dopamine initially, over time, their effects diminish, and the stimulation they provide don’t actually satisfy the need. Think about the times you’ve sat down after a long day of work and scrolled through social media out of boredom or tiredness, only to realize an hour has gone by. Chances are you don’t feel better, and maybe even worse.

dopamine menu
Source: Ajaila Walker | Dupe

A study in the Journal of Neuroscience showed that when you receive a high concentration of dopamine, you’re likely to either repeat the activity that gave you the boost to receive the same benefits or move on to another dopamine-increasing activity. This is why it’s so easy to get addicted to behaviors like doom scrolling, Netflix bingeing, or late-night snacking. Instead, a dopamine menu encourages you to engage in healthy, sustainable activities that provide long-lasting dopamine effects, so you don’t need to unintentionally jump from one dopamine-increasing activity to another. Activities like working out, socializing with friends, or dancing and listening to music provide sustained increases in dopamine, whereas others like eating a cookie or candy give short bursts of dopamine.

McCabe said that while the obvious answer is to make choices that do satisfy us, it’s easier said than done. “The more satisfying dopamine choices usually take longer to set up and require being able to tolerate the distress of being bored in the meantime,” she said. She related it to the difficulty of making healthy food choices when you’re hungry; we usually grab whatever is easiest and fastest. When you’re low on dopamine, it’s harder to make healthy choices that will boost dopamine. But a dopamine menu makes it easier to separate the planning from the choosing. Creating a personalized dopamine menu means taking the guesswork out of figuring out how to give yourself a healthy dopamine boost when you’re bored or unmotivated, increasing the likelihood of you making good dopamine choices.

Increased Happiness and Motivation

While a dopamine menu has yet to be scientifically studied, dopamine is directly associated with tapping into the brain’s natural reward system and the way you experience happiness and motivation. Buying yourself flowers (thanks, Miley), going on a run, or grabbing a coffee—or whatever mood-boosting activities speak to you—can all increase your dopamine. Notice how you feel good during and especially after those pastimes? That’s the dopamine working. And if you consistently practice them, you can expect your overall happiness to also improve. Having a personalized dopamine menu filled with pursuits that resonate with you means having a go-to tool to step in when you’re feeling down or unmotivated.

How to Create Your Own Personalized Dopamine Menu

The most important part of creating a dopamine menu is catering to you and your needs. Start by writing down things that bring you joy—it could be your favorite travel destination, a cup of coffee, a song, dancing, or shopping. For me, my list looks like exercising every day, going for walks by the water (I’m very into blue mind theory), painting, reading, and listening to live music. Next, determine which items are realistic for your current lifestyle and separate them into the appropriate menu categories (for example, traveling is one of my favorite activities, but it isn’t realistic for me over the next few months, so I’ve cut it from the list for now). Add in and remove activities as you go, write them out in a colorful notebook, and place your menu somewhere out in the open where you’ll always see it. The next time you’re feeling stuck, bored, or uninspired, refer to your dopamine menu, choose something off your list, and get the dopamine fix your brain and body need.

To get you started, here’s some inspiration:

Appetizers (if you have five minutes or less…)

Use appetizers as a break in your workday, to motivate you to wake up in the morning, or to carve out time for self-care.

 • Jumping jacks
 • A quick meditation
 • Turn on music and dance
 • Make a cup of coffee
 • Cuddle a pet
 • Put on a facemask
 • Make your bed
 • Stretch
 • Stand outside in the sun
 • Water your plants
 • Doodle/draw

Entrees (if you have an hour or more…)

Entrees are more time-consuming activities, but they also tend to give bigger doses of dopamine. They’re the things you love to do in your free time or on the weekends.

 • Go for a walk
 • Take a workout class
 • Cook a meal you love
 • Watch a movie
 • Read a book
 • Take an everything shower
 • Go on a dinner date
 • Re-organize your closet

Sides

Sides are the perfect activities to accompany the tasks or chores you have to do throughout your day. They can help you stay focused on one task at a time and make mundane chores more pleasant.

 • Listen to a podcast
 • Light a candle
 • Put on a TV show you’ve already seen in the background
 • Call a friend
 • Play with a fidget toy
 • Pull an affirmation card
 • Listen to an audiobook
 • Turn on a diffuser

Desserts

Desserts are the things you love to do that’ll give you a dopamine boost, but not a long-lasting one. They’re best done occasionally because if they’re repeated too often, their dopamine effects tend to waver and go away, making you feel tired or sad.

 • Scroll social media
 • Play video games
 • Order takeout
 • Online shopping
 • Binge-watch TV
 • Buy a sweet treat
 • Drinks with Friends
 • Snacking

Specials

Specials are usually the activities that give you the biggest boosts of dopamine, but because of cost or time, can only be done occasionally.

 • Book a vacation
 • Go to a concert
 • See a comedy show
 • Buy a new outfit
 • Have a picnic
 • Swim in the ocean/lake
 • Take an art class
 • Re-decorate a room
 • Do a random act of kindness/pay it forward
 • Get a manicure and pedicure

Out of all the chaotic corners of the internet, one of my absolute favorites is tarot readings on TikTok. Even when a video has millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes, I swear those messages feel completely tailored to me. Whether it’s divine intervention or my perfected algorithm remains unknown, but honestly, I don’t really care either way. The tarot readings offer guidance and comforting sentiments that make navigating life feel just a little less scary.

As we enter spring with retrogrades and eclipses galore, life might feel a tad more stressful than usual. Not only are you dealing with a change in seasons, but with a multitude of astrological events happening, it’s normal to feel a little lost. However, the right spiritual guidance can make the transition a breeze. So, we tapped a tarot expert, Hillary Coke, to do a collective reading for The Everygirls. Spoiler alert: She said this season is all about embracing change and stepping forward with hope and vitality. Read on to find out what else spring holds for you, and remember—claim what you want and leave the rest.

What is tarot?

Tarot refers to any set of cards used for fortune-telling, but the most popular tarot decks today originated in Italy in the 1400s. The deck has 22 Major Arcana cards, which reveal significant insights about your higher self, and 56 Minor Arcana cards, which offer smaller predictions about your future self. If the details overwhelm you, just know that tarot aims to guide you and offer insight into your future.

How does tarot work?

When a tarot card reader pulls cards for you, they can do several different variations of tarot readings. For this reading, Coke pulled four cards for our readers to predict what their spring might look like from beginning to end. If you want more information on tarot and tarot readings, you can check out Nebula’s spiritual guidance platform.

Your spring tarot reading

spring tarot reading seven of pentacles

First card: Seven of Pentacles

signifies the past; represents patience, hard work, and waiting for the results of your efforts

This card suggests you’ve put a lot of work and dedication into something these past few months, and you may be feeling frustrated and impatient while waiting for it to pay off. But keep working at it—you’ll see the results you want. “Spend these warmer months reflecting inward,” Coke said. “You’ve been putting in the work!”

spring tarot reading the empress

Second card: The Empress

signifies the present; represents growth, fertility, and the manifestation of ideas

The Empress is all about abundance, creativity, and nurturing energy. “She represents comfort, beauty, and emotional fulfillment, often connected to motherhood or artistic expression,” Coke said. This card in your reading means you’re currently in your feminine energy. You’re likely embracing the traits of The Empress, like its emotional depth and artistic side, and prioritizing self-care and nurturing. This mentality will serve you well and could bring a period of prosperity, fulfillment, and success in your future.

spring tarot reading king of cups

Third card: King of Cups

signifies the present; represents emotional awareness and maturity

Lately, you likely haven’t had time for emotional immaturity—you simply can’t be bothered by people who don’t match your emotional intelligence. This may be due to the King of Cups appearing in your reading. The card symbolizes emotional awareness and understanding. “The King of Cups is compassionate yet in control of his emotions, offering support and guidance,” Coke said. You’re in an era of emotional wisdom and balance, and any challenges you face will be met with calmness and grace.

spring tarot reading nine of wands

Fourth card: Nine of Wands

signifies the future; represents perseverance and resilience

I know you’ve been working really hard, and you’re honestly just ready to cross the finish line and be done, but the Nine of Wands in your reading represents one final push before you’re able to finish. Don’t give up too early and let all your efforts amount to nothing. Coke explained that this card signals the need to protect what you’ve already built while gathering strength for a final effort. Fortunately, spring brings you renewed energy and resilience, so capitalize on this burst of energy to see your project through to the end.

What your reading means for your spring

According to Coke, these four cards together signify that you’ve been working hard toward something new and are currently in a phase that requires patience. Your efforts are being recognized and will lead to an era of abundance and growth, but for this to happen, you’ll need to maintain emotional balance throughout the process. This spread could also indicate that a creative or emotional project is coming to fruition this spring. Coke noted the importance of staying patient and managing challenges with resilience. “There is strong inner support, but perseverance is necessary to see it through,” she said. Your goals are well within reach, so don’t give up yet!

Picture this: You just got spent a day at the beach with your friends, breaking up your time sitting in a lounge chair sipping on an ice-cold drink with quick dips in the ocean. Suddenly five hours passed by, and you just got back to your hotel to get ready for your dinner reservation (it’s still three hours away, though—you’ve got time). You finished blowing out your hair (it looks perfect) and getting dressed (it’s the outfit you bought specifically for tonight), and are about to put your makeup on. But you look in the mirror and realize that you’re so perfectly sun-kissed—not burned, though, since you re-applied SPF throughout the day—that you don’t want to cover it up. You swipe on some mascara, apply a little brow gel, and head out the door feeling the best you’ve ever looked, like… ever.

In a perfect world, a magic genie would give us that just-back-from-the-beach flush permanently; in reality, those days only happen a few times a year, and we have to rely on products to mimic it in the interim. The good news? Blushes that perfectly imitate a sun-kissed glow do exist, and there’s an option available for everyone.

These nine blushes will give you the same confidence boost as a beach day—no sun damage required.
